Quicksand

Makes 8 serving(s)

WHAT'S IN IT?

1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, drained
6 tablespoons cold water
1/2 small jalapeno pepper (remove seeds if you're not a spice fan!)
1 small clove garlic
2 tablespoons tahini (sesame seed paste)
Juice of one lemon
1/4 teaspoon salt

For dunking into the Quicksand:
4 fresh whole wheat pitas, sliced into wedges
1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes (optional)
1/2 English cucumber, cut into "chips" (slices) (optional)

STUFF YOU NEED

This is a family recipe. Kids and Parents: you'll need each other to make it!

HOW TO PUT IT TOGETHER

  1. For Kids: Toss into a blender container the chickpeas, water, jalapeno, garlic, tahini, lemon and salt. Blend on low speed for 30 seconds or until pureed, pulsing if necessary.
  2. Serve the Quicksand with pita wedges, tomatoes and/or cucumber "chips."
